Honouring our lost babies as BLAW2021 draws to a close

Today marks the end of Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021 and, while I posted at the start of the week about navigating pregnancy after loss for the second time, it seemed only fitting to pop back today to honour our two babies who aren’t here with us.
Today is, after all, the day on which #BLAW2021 culminates with the global Wave of Light, honouring all babies who have been lost.
Across the world today, at 7pm local time, people are invited to light candles and burn them for at least an hour in memory of these babies. In memory of their babies, of relatives’ or friends’ babies, of babies they never knew of and may never know of. In all cases, in memory of babies they’ll never get to truly know.
Baby Loss Awareness Week comes round once a year and encourages us to remember and honour lost babies but that doesn’t mean those babies don’t occupy a central place in their loved ones’ hearts and minds throughout the other 51 weeks of the year as well.
Lentil and Pip will always be a part of our lives. We have just taken delivery of Pip’s personalised tree decoration, which will sit alongside Lentil’s and Charlotte’s this Christmas, and be joined by our precious fourth baby’s in future years. Our four precious babies, each with a special place in our lives and in our hearts.
