A big hello and welcome to sarahmooreonline.com
Eight months ago when I imagined what my life would be like now my dreams involved being surrounded by hundreds of nappies with a crying baby and plenty of sleepless nights. Eight months on and my reality sees me surrounded by cardboard book wraps with a sleeping cat and, so far at least, not a sleepless night in sight (and if things keep running to schedule on this project it might just stay that way).
To say things haven’t turned out as I’d expected and initially hoped would be an understatement of monumental proportions. At the same time, though, I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else right now.
This is the start of an exciting new venture – and hopefully adventure – in which I take a series of massive steps outside my comfort zone and probably reach the point of no return.
I’ve already taken a few, from laying bare some of my innermost thoughts and feelings in my book For the Love of Lentil, to sticking a camera in my face to film videos for my lovely followers (notice I haven’t braved the live video yet).
If you know me, you’ll know I like to write. It’s what led me to become a journalist and has kept me doing it for the last 12 years. But up until now my work has focused predominantly on telling other people’s stories and writing about other people’s lives.
To be led to use that love of writing in a way that will hopefully help and give hope to others is an immense honour and privilege and one I hope I can live up to.
This new project is an exciting – and perhaps marginally terrifying – opportunity to share my thoughts and experiences on life in general, from the big things to the small things and everything in between.
I expect some of you are wondering what I bring to the table to qualify me for this. The answer is simple: no qualifications, just the experience of being the only person to walk in my shoes and live my life. I firmly believe that we all have experiences, knowledge and, dare I say it, wisdom that’s worth sharing and which, when shared, can positively impact other people. If you think you’ve got nothing worth bringing, maybe you need to look a little deeper beyond the surface of your life.
Maybe you won’t gain anything personally from what I share through this project but if you don’t perhaps the person next to you will. If just one of you reading this benefits in some small way from something I share through this it will be worthwhile to me.
I’m so pleased to have you here at the beginning of this journey, I hope you’ll stick around for the ride and I look forward to receiving your feedback along the way. Your thoughts could help shape the future direction of the seedling project that is Sarah Moore Online.
