Money raised for Baby Lifeline

Before this year’s Baby Loss Awareness Week, I called on you, the people of the internet world, to help me choose a charity to support through the sales of my book. In a Twitter poll, the overwhelming majority of you voted for Baby Lifeline. And so it was that the cause was selected as my second chosen charity (coming after my previous donation to Keswick Ministries).

So, with #BLAW2018 complete, I sent off my donation of £50 to Baby Lifeline (the promised £1.50 per book sold via my website until the end of the awareness week, plus a little extra for good measure). A Facebook fundraiser – to give people a chance to donate without having to buy a book – raised another £20. And thanks to those who bought pin badges along with their books, Baby Lifeline received a further £15. (The good news is, we’re keeping the book and pin badge package on the website so, if you missed out on getting your baby loss awareness badge during #BLAW, you’ve got another chance)

But, aside from the modest sum received by Baby Lifeline (just over £100 with Gift Aid), I hope I have helped raise more awareness of the charity, bring it to the attention of people who hadn’t previously come across it and perhaps encouraged others to support the cause in their own ways. Thank you to each and every one of you who has helped in some way, either by contributing financial or simply interacting with a social media post about the charity. Every contribution can make a difference.

Baby Lifeline carries out important work to help reduce the number of babies who die each year and, in turn, reduce the number of families who experience the heartache of losing a child. Long may its amazing work continue, and I look forward to supporting it further into the future.

Sarah Moore is the author of For the Love of Lentil, A journey of longing, loss and abundant grace, which tells the story of her experience of pregnancy and miscarriage. Copies of the book are available here.
